Default LA shoulder titles

Hi

I would have some reservations about these titles. Have a look at the solder splashes on rear of the titles. They are the same. They should be very individual. I suspect that you have high quality cast copies off an original.

I once saw a group of 4 or 6 x LA titles at an auction (Spinks Sydney) and all were identical with the solder splashes. This feature was pointed out to me by another collector. I cannot remember now if they were hollow back like these, as it was a long while back.

Hope I am wrong.

Dennis

Thanks Gents, I have had a good look at these titles, and you are right, they are identical they could be twins. I also looked at the lugs with a jewellers loupe, and you can see actual cast residue where it has bled from the mould.
And these did come from Sydney. I should have realised they were suspect because they look brand new.
Thanks again for the info.

Phil.

Hi Phil

The titles at Spinks sure fooled me when I first saw them. They are good. Scary thing is that they could have been better if someone had hand finished then with a file etc afterwards.

The solder splash would be then be the easiest identifier, along with the lugs being brass like the rest of the badge. Leading to a further inspection for cast marks etc.

You have done us all a good service with your photos for future reference.

All the best

Dennis

I recently got stung with a HKS-RGA curved brass shoulder title, sold out of Hong Kong.

Same deal as the LA titles, cast in one piece including lugs. Got all my money back though.

It appears they are originating from somewhere in that part of the world.

regards

Yes, thanks Dennis, I will be wary of buying from that dealer again.
