Default Real or fake?

I have no interest in purchasing this badge but when I compare it to the one I have I see subtle differences between the two. Knowing mine is 100% legit it makes me question the rather certain "provenance" of the one offered for sale. Am I right or another rookie mistake?

Best wishes

Mike

As Alan says a badge with a lot of manufacturers made and worn until 1924.

Have a look here to get an idea of number of dies that existed https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ght=tank+corps .

I really like your badge Mike. Very unusual horizontal striations on the face of the cupola. Not sure I’ve seen that before. Is there an impression on the back from the reverse die (slider obscures it in your pic) or do they appear to have been scratched?

Luke

P.S. what’s the provenance with the eBay badge I can’t see any?

If I can get the right light for a picture you can see them on the reverse...not scratched in.
The Ebay posting states it is from "the collection of badge expert, researcher and author Chris Brooker".

Mike, looks like they’re scratched on to me. How strange, but nice effect.

I see. Looks like an expert on Canadian badges. The seller’s use of the phrase ‘Badge expert’ is a very generic and implies expertise in all areas. Personally I would not take this as provenance with regards to British badges.

I think it's a case of having to see it with your own eyes in hand but it's not scratched in my friend. I'll try a pic through a magnifying glass (this should be interesting)

Mike,

I can see the reverse impression now in that pic. Wasn’t evident in the previous two. How interesting, don’t ever recall seeing one like that.

Maybe it’s the first coating of Zimmerit on a tank in the world

Very nice badge indeed. Will have to look out for one like that myself.

I would think that was original from the photographs, but, I would much rather have a better example, after all they are very common badges.
