Default The Essex Regiment Helmet plate pre WWI?

Hi Guys,
Would just like to find out a date on the Helmet Plate as well as how rare they are. Had a look round the net, but can't seem to find the exact badge. Would I be correct in guessing around 1911 ish towards the end of WWI?

Any info would be great.

Regards,
Tinus & Mike

Tinus and Mike,

TheKings Crown HP had two versions.
The first with bottom scroll reading "THE ESSEX REGIMENT" was 1901 -1911

the second with the bottom scroll readinf "THE ESSEX REGT" was 1911-1914.

regards

Simon, regarding the scroll titles and dates, I've just seen a pattern card dated 1903 which has the REGT version, so wondering if they ran side by side as variants rather than one pattern following the other.

Hi, your badge has Victorian crown wreath, the buckle is different, on a kings crown back plate, a very common practice, and in no way should this bother you
