Looks much like the badged bugles many with unit titles or army serial numbers punch stamped on that appeared on the market in the UK about 20 years ago.

HI LEIGH ,I think its even further back than that ...? these keep cropping up at respectable auctions and dealers sites but to be fair I think a lot are sold as genuine out of ignorance I would love to know which dealer was behind these ?? was told way back that it was all the work of one guy ( no name ) who went on to be a big time dealer

There used to be an antique shop in Stamford, Lincolnshire that had dozens of bugles to different regiments, a big window full of them.
The bugles themselves looked to be of reasonable quality, better than a lot of the India / Pakistan produced tourist tat type (somebody once bought me one of those mistakenly thinking it was "military" - it eventually found its way to the local council tip).
Your mention of a particular dealer being involved rings bells - they were appearing in military magazines at the time?

Around about the year 2000, I remember loads of these bugles flooding the antiques fairs. Very poor quality tat, made out to be from various units.
