Hello
I wondered if someone could help clarify if these Shoulder titles are genuine, as I have some doubts. Thank you Cheers Rob

I don't like either, the top one just looks wrong, the lower pair look better, the thread is nicer and thicker, but, I'm not very keen on the lack of gaps between the bottom of the letters, you could certainly get better examples.

Hello
Could someone please put up some examples of these titles that are genuine so we can draw some actual comparison. Thank you Rob

G'day guys
l tried to post this last night but every thing just froze on me and all l could do was back out and turn the puter off. I have been out all day at the launch of a new book on an Aussie WW 1 V C winner George Ingram, he won our last VC in WW 1. and the one day cricket is now over for the next 4 years. I have 4 of these, one is the same as the top one in the photo. One has what I call a pale gold lettering, the stitching on the back is exposed and different to the bottom 2 in the photo. The other 2 are a pair, the front is like the lower 2 but the back had a black fabric over the back to cover the stitching. Id say they are all probably Ok. maybe Dave Alexander could comment. There was another thread on these about 18 monts to 2 yrs ago so go back and see if you can find this one. They were used in the 1950's and 60's on the bum freezer, battle dress jackets. Theres a photo in the previous thread. Hope this helps. Phil. |

Hello Phil
If you have time I think we all would be grateful if you could post (front & back) your 4No. examples for interest and comparison. Cheers Rob

Both types look legit, worn until late 40s or maybe very early 50s. By the Coronation they had gone to brass shoulder titles or "numerals" as they were commonly called. The Regt had been split up between Far East and Middle East postings in Oct '61 and wore them until early '63 when the Regt was re-united in Sennelager. We never wore numerals again.

More 17/21L titles
Hi
Please see images of Phil's titles. Thanks for forwarding them Phil, mac is on nights so a bit pushed for time he asked me to post for you. Also off forum comment on my top example 'might be iffy'. Mick Holtby at Regtl.museum says these cloth titles were worn into the 50's. Cheers Rob
