Default Northamptonshire Badge

I acquired this badge a while ago and wondered if it is real or not most of the Northamptonshire badges I have seen have Gibraltar and Talavera on the panels.

Thanks for any help z4

That to me looks like an absolute gem......very nice indeed. It has the sweats and the seeding is perfect on the blank scrolls.

This is what you have

Hi

4TH BATTALION, THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGIMENT TF.
Badge without the honour scrolls of the parent regiment. 1908 - (not sure how long it was worn)

Cheers

Colin

Not sure what the problem is Z4 as it's a publicly accessible album. Did you click on the link? It just worked for me.

But it's as Colin said above. The lack of honours in the scrolls is that as a non regular battalion but TF for home defence they were not allowed them. I think eventually they were allowed to where them around 1916. Then they and all the rest of the TF battalions wore the standard badge's of the regiment. But another more knowledgable member can fill in the gaps on the details.

Cheers Z4, and thanks.
Took some time but nearly there. In fact I was talking to a military dealer today and we both said that it's the last few for certain subject collections that make it hard; and expensive....... Hence why I have a sale album at present. Trying to build up the war chest. decided to get out of the pre 1914 and stick with the Great war.
From what I gather, that Northampton one you have is a tough one to find, so a start for a nice TF collection.....

Glad the link opened in the end.

What's your specialisation in badge collecting. What period.

Simon.

Simon this shoulder badge was in the same bag when I bought the badges.

My main collection is trench art and knives\bayonets I have some badges but I don't go out looking for badges there just what I have picked up over the years.

On that I'd have to make an educated guess as Territorial reserve. Other than that, someone will come in with the right ID
