What size is the badge? The hanovarian horse looks very much like the West Yorks Variety rarther than the 3rd hussars type. It is possible it may be a pouch badge but it also may be an officers FSC badge though i have not seen one in such detail. The size may give us a better idea of where it was worn and by whom.
Cheers, Dave

Agree with Deejayoo on this. Its much more like the West Yorks horse than
the 3H cavalry one.
I have a West Yorks officers silver gilt version with the scroll.
If I remove it (via PSP software), there doesn't seem to be a great great
deal of difference between mine and yours.

Can you post the nose to tail overall width measurement and I'll check it
against the one I have and post a reply tomorrow.

Are there any West Yorkshire Regt guru's out there who can confirm that
the horse was ever worn on its own by this regiment?
In my opinion, if this was ever worn as an officers pouch badge I would
expect it to have screw posts and not lugs.

Alternatively, I don't suppose you could post a picture of the bottom edge
of the badge to see whether its actually had its scroll removed?

Very similar to this one.
2nd dragoons - THE ROYAL SCOTS GREYS (bandsman I think - the plume is on the right side).
Can someone confirm?

Nice picture Pierre, but is that not the back of the fur cap we're seeing?

I really don't know, the only regiment I know with a back badge is the Gloucestershire Regiment.

The badge was most certainly worn without scroll. The badge was worn by officers on the field service cap. It could be mistaken for a collar due to it being only 30mm / 1 1/4" long. The badge is virtually identical to the horse at the centre of the OR helmet plate centre though the fixings are different as are the metals used. The other badge is the post amalgamation badge with the East Yorks though this is easy to spot as it has `Yorkshire` on the field below the horse.

Cheers, Dave

Hi
My apoliges for delay in replying, been away last few weeks. The badge is 71.5mm long and 38.3mm high and the is no evendence to suggest a scroll has been removed. Thank you all for your interest and comments.

Regards

Rob
