Default Canadian Layer Rating Badges?

Hello

I picked these up the other week and it has been suggested to me that they are Canadian. They are yellow thread and are different to the RN yellow thread badges I have. Can any one confirm they are Canadian and from what period?

Many thanks in advance,

Andy

They came out in 1944 as a wartime economy measure, to replace the gold wire embroidered badges.

For more of them see my posts on 2WW RCN badges:

& if you would like some more examples of them I have a few....

LOL.... of course I should have known where to look Cheers for that. Were they used by the RN? The economy badges I have are a lot duller.

Out of interest, in my album is a senior rates button that was made in the US. It came with a lot of other RN buttons that originated from Britain. Was this button made for the RCN?

Thanks,

Andy

All RCN buttons had CANADA over the shank & below the stock of the anchor ...
except the Flag officers which were identical to the RN.
