Love the Grid idea to size the badges!

Good luck with your new venture.

I just wonder where the expression " ordinary ranks" rather than " other ranks" comes from ?

Default Ordinary rank?

I had look at the site and have my doudts about their military background, their description of badges as "Ordinary Ranks" makes me suspicious as surely anyone ex military would say " Other Ranks".if their knowledge of such basic terminology is weak I wonder about more detailed knowledge.

Some of you realy don't have a nice word to say about anyone do you? If it's not Ebay or Ebay sellers then it's new dealers??? There are some really good aspects of this Forum, but alas, as in life, there are some very annoying ones too!

The owner does not know the correct meaning of OR! So what?

Many of the "Well Established" dealers listed at the bottom corner of this site do not know their onions that well either!! Some cannot tell the difference between a true WW1 economy issue and a brass badge that should not be . Another has had a "FAKE" Lambourne badge listed for serveral weeks despite a number of ignored e-mails pointing out the fact!! He is quick enough to reply when I want to buy something though.

Instead of pouring ridicule on this Open to the World Forum, why not point out the fact that he has not got it right! From what I can see, he has some very nice items, a few of which are about to land on my doormat ..

A picture paints a thousand words and his photographs show enough for me to be able to tell what is what! At least they show what is for sale and not one like it, like one dealer tends to do so often!

Give the guy a break will you (no I do not know him! Before anyone asks), we all have to learn and in my opinion it has the makings of a good site!

There are some good badges on the site but a lot of them look far to shiny on the backs. I don't know whether that is a result of the lighting used or whether it is because the badges don't have the patination I would expect on an old badge. I think I will be a bit cautious until I read feedback from anyone who buys from the site. I hope it is just the lighting.

James,
there are some bargains to be had, don't sit on your hands for too long! I would endorse most of his offerings!

By the way I spoke to him on the phone earlier today and if "You only get one chance to make a first impression" is true, he did rather well in my books!

Perhaps the badges that were proposed a while back should have read in some cases:

I mentioned this because ,if you read their home page, this is one of the points that their selling points.
I agree that there is a tendency with lots of posters to immediately brand as fakes anything they don't recognise while , haveing served, I am well aware that ther are many oddities being worn in service that don'rt always appear in vocabs odf equipment.

I'm with you on that I've always read or know it as "Other Ranks" and Officers

Nor can you compare BCBF which is considered the Bible on British Commonwealth Badges ect.

Default Ordinary ranks

Hello all

I do apologise to those that do not like the expression Ordinary ranks. If you would prefer I will change it to Other ranks. I take it very personally that you doubt the authenticity of my military service.
I do not feel I should have to explain this to you or anyone else, however I did complete 10 years regular service, which is more than most and that was in a specialist infantry unit, that is all you need to know.

This is not meant to sound rude but I am very proud of the fact I have served my country in some of the not so nice places around this world and have eaten dirt as an ordinary british soldier on many occassions. Sorry said that word again.

Thank you
Gordon

Default 100% Endorsement

I have received my first two orders from this site and I must say that the items and service are 1st Class. I will certainly browse Gordon's site for more gems!

The site certainly has my stamp of approval! I propose that it be added to the dealers list!! Any seconders?

Great Stuff Gordon keep it up!

Andy
