Hi Patrick what you have is the Mazeas C-17 cap badge of the 8th PLNBH. It was worn in Canada before and up to 2ndWW( from 1921 to 1942) and then once overseas the PLNBH had a new badge made up which is Mazeas C-60. Chris Brooker said in a letter to me in 1995 that the 2nd (R) Batt. continued to wear C-17.(Today, they wear a bi-metal copy of C-60.) Also if you can find the Regimental History of the unit there is a citation about the two badges.
Hoping this will help.
Jo

Sorry Patrick, I don't have a scanner or camera but, I'm sure someone reading this (one of our fellow Canadian!) will be helpful in posting picture of thee said badge.
Again sorry.
Jo

I'm not aware that this badge has ever been re-struck. (Who would bother, they're quite common & not worth much.) At any rate, your's is marked 'Lackie Toronto' & almost certainly real.
The C.60 badge on the other hand, has been widely re-struck. These overseas pattern badges were made in England, & the dies have been passed around the blacksmith shops for 60 plus years.
