Default Forum Genesis

Hail Forum,

I have on occasions wondered about the origins of the BCMBF; the impetus behind its inception and the road to its current, well-established status etc. I’d be quite interested in how it all started and any background story.

Was it an instant hit and quickly patronised, or was its growth perhaps a more measured process?

Was it solely Mike’s creation or were there collaborators involved in getting it up and running?

Are its origins based in any previous projects or ventures?

What was the very first post/thread, and who was the very first person to join, and are there any existing members who recall the forum’s first steps?

Were there ever fewer or more moderators (or none, for that matter), and were the current mods acquaintances/friends of Mike pre-forum days, or recruited from the members’ rank and file?

I ask purely out of interest, and not for any dodgy, GDPR-breaking reasons. Hope it’s not too nosy a post but I think it might be interesting to learn a bit about the history of it all.

Great Idea JT, I can only surmise in a cheeky sort of way that,
1 In the beginning there were collectors
2 And the collectors were without form and in great darkness
3 And Mike said Let there be a Forum, and there was a forum
4 And Mike saw that the Forum was good and separated the Forum into Sub-forums so that light and knowledge came upon many.

Special counsel Mueller has found that the Russians did not influence Trump into forming the forum to defeat an identical forum hatched in Hawaii by Obama who was not born in Kenya.

Another rumour doing the rounds about the formation of the forum is that the nature and wildlife expert Chris Packham was involved. He overheard the words 'badge forum' and thought it odd so set one up anyway despite 'badger' being more logical.
