Hi Alan,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Unfortunately I don't like the Royal Warwickshire Regiment badge at all.

I would expect the slider for a Smith and Wright badge to be of the tapering slider typed with a rounded end which I have designated 'tombstone' in my book because such slider ends look like the traditional tombstone shape. Smith and Wright did use other sliders but for this era (I believe the Royal Warwickshire Regiment became part of the Fusilier Brigade in 1953) I would have expected a 'tombstone' one.

More damning though is the maker mark.

I have never seen the Smith & Wright mark without the "LTD.". Sometimes the 'TD' is misshapen.

For the Rifle Brigade - can you state what the mark actually is as getting old (me not necessarily the mark) I can't make it out.

Regards

Chris

Chris, the Royal Warwicks originally went to the Forester Brigade in 1957 then to the Fusilier Brigade in 1970 when the Forester Brigade was disbanded.

I also believe that this mark has been added to a repro badge.

Hi Alan,

I'm pretty sure it has too. The fonts characters used are wrong too.

I have attached the two marks that I know were used by this company.

Regards

Chris

The Royal Warwicks joined the Fusilier Brigade in 1963 which became the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in April 1968.

They wore the EMidlands Bde badge from 1958 and then the Fusilier Bde badge thereafter. The Warcs badge was not worn after 1858 and unlikely to have been worn in a/a.

Alan, I think you meant the Forester Brigade cap badge (was there ever a Midland Brigade cap badge?) possibly with the Midland Brigade arm badge (VI for the Royal Warwicks).
