Period of this para badge
This would appear to be a silver plated with brass showing through officers hatbadge pre 1953, on a para colour backing. This was given to the previous owner to him from Col John Waddy MC. Never having seen this type of badge ie solid construction before l ask is this a normal officers hatbadge?

The backing looks like the ‘blue red blue’ worn with the Parachute Regiment cap badge by the Guards Independent Parachute Company?

Can't comment on the unusual badge, but the grosgrain backing is for the Guards and is far more recent than the period for a KC badge. Not to say that a KC could not have been worn for many years after. It did happen quite often.
