Default WW1 Fife and Forfar puggaree patch?

Hi,
I have had this badge for about 30 years now and until recently did not have the first clue what it might be. When I bought it, I thought it was an Artillery Puggaree badge, but their patches are vertically divided Blue and Red, so I know it is very unlikely to be one of them.
It was only when I recently bought a book about British WW1 battle patches that I first saw a badge that is the correct design. The only difference is that my badge has a bomb badge on it. I am now wondering is it is a Fife and Forfar Yeomanry trained bomber or trench mortar badge.
Does anyone have any ideas? Unfortunately I cannot find any clear pictures of this type of badge in use by the F&F Yeomanry.
Thanks for looking.

Interesting.

Dont know the answer but the badge looks like a RA/RE collar badge with the lower scroll removed.

Could you tell me the book you have on WW1 Battle Patches please.

regards

Could the grenade be the 1880 pattern RA collar badge which was without scroll?
(Don't make the mistake of assuming that I know what I'm talking about, I just have a recollection that such a badge was worn until WWI).
Flames too narrow to be the universal collar / shoulder title grenade?

That was the universal grenade.

The flames on this one are the same as the small grenade with scroll worn in the RE and also in the RA 1926 -1928 only.

Hi, the book I bought was WW1 British Battle Insignia, by Kevin Beckhurst and is published by Military Mode Publishing. The show this patch as worn by officers on both side of the Pith helmet, O/R's wore it on only one side. It also seems to have been worn on the tunic as well.
I have never taken the grenade device off, so do not know if the bottom edge shows signs of having a scroll removed. It is at my dad's house, so will have a closer look when I next visit him.
I might try the small F&F Yeomanry Museum in Cupar, Fife to see if they have examples of what the regiment wore during WW1 or I might try the IWM to see if they can identify it.
Thank you all for your thoughts and replies. If I do get a definitive answer, I will let you all know.
