Default Side cap for identification please.

Matches Y&L colours, but I’d expect just the cat & cabbage and not the full badge?

Appreciate any thoughts.

My first thought was East Surrey's but the badge doesn't seem right.
I've just checked a couple of references and the old "Regimental Badges and Service Caps" shows it as East Surrey's.

"1937 Coloured Field Service Cap" shows East Surrey's as dark blue with khaki-ish peak and top piping and white piping on the curtain.

The MHS Special Number 2002 "Coloured Field Service Caps Infantry" states buff peak, dark blue curtain, dark blue body, crown maroon, crown piping buff.
I'll go with East Surrey's despite "1937 Coloured Field Service Cap" showing a totally different CFSC.

The plot thickens - the MHS Special shows the same cap as the East Surrey's but with yellow replacing the buff of the peak and black replacing the dark blue body of the cap as York's & Lancs 1958 - 68, Yorkshire Brigade badge worn.
Prior to 1958 it states that the Y&L cap was all dark blue. Presumably as the regimental badge was replaced by the Brigade one a more distinctive CFSC was adopted.
The badge in the photo looks like the Yorkshire Brigade.
If pre 1958, East Surrey's, if post 1958 York's & Lancs probably has the edge over East Surrey's.
How's that for a definite maybe?

Vcan we see the whole picture, it does me in and a few others that only a cropped in view is posted, it's probably a B&W picture that's been coloured which is why it's not as it should be.

Many thanks for the replies gents.

Not my photo unfortunately, so I can’t expand.

I do know that it’s 1960’s, so I would also concur that it’s The Yorkshire Brigade.

Cheers,

Andy C

Nice to see you are still around Andy. Its definitely York and Lancs with a Yorkshire brigade badge so between 1958 and 1968.
