Phil, did you ever find more information about your Recce badge? My recent acquisition is identical to yours if memory serves me right. I'll take a couple of pics and post them.

In reviewing the 14 Canadian Hussars Dress Instructions file from archives, it was clearly stated that the VIII Recce badges were worn in Canada until circa 1949. This included the cap badges, the shoulder titles and the bull's eye patches.

Here is another variation. Appears to be stamped in white metal and the overlay soldered on. Came on a British beret marked 1944 and I have the troopers name. Looks good to me. Cheers Brian
