Default Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant James Bruce McCulloch MM and Two Bars

Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant James Bruce McCulloch, Military Medal and 2 Bars, 22nd Light Horse Regiment (22nd Sept 1896 - 2nd Aug 1965).

Photographed in 1937 as part of the Australian contingent to the Coronation of George VI.

Enlisting at just on 19 years, Bruce served four years on the Western Front in the Great War, earning the Military Medal and two bars. Went back to the family farms at Gawler and Abbotsham in Tasmania on return in 1920 but re-enlisted in the regular army in 1924, reaching the rank of WO2 (Regimental Sergeant Major).

He retired in 1949 due to illness related to mustard gas exposure in France.
