Default Union Flag Pin Badge

This is an odd one.

I wonder if anyone knows who would have worn it? A British Union Flag pin with a War Department stamp to the rear. The War Department became the Ministry of Defence in 1964 so that helps with a date before which it dates. I think it may be post war and possibly of German manufacture. I think the the pin looks very similar to the pins found on NSDAP membership and other TR badges. What I really like is that the pin is attached in such a way that when worn the British flag is the correct way up.

I suspect that it was made for some sort of British organisation based in Germany after the war - late 40's. But what sort of unit? Military wouldn't have needed it as they were in uniform, so civilian or diplomatic perhaps?

I think you should read the latter part of this thread before asking.

I have an example of the same badge, which I thought may be from the Control Commission Germany.

However it is pure speculation as CCG have their own badge and formation sign.

I will read, with interest, the comment of the forum.

Thank you manchesters for your helpful comment.

Thanks you popskipa. That seems like a realistic possibility.

I thought it was helpful?

You have attracted several adverse comments due to your frequent ID requests and need to read the rules of the Forum if you are going to sell items as a consequence of the information gained on here.
