Ayreshire Yeomanry Buttons or something else?
I have seen these Crown type button described as various things including Militia general pattern but the only actual references I can find are.
Yeomanry Buttons 1830-2000 No.1 The Ayrshire (Earl of Carrick's Own) Yeomanry Gilt QVC; Gilt, Brass, and gold coloured anodised, KC; Gold anodised, QC. Buttons of the regular Army 1855-2000 No.525 Inspectors of Army Schools Gilt, QVC and KC The only difference in the images by Mr Darmamin appear to be the patterns around the edge have the in and out points opposite, but as do my two Stillwell examples shown in my first image which came together and have a similar amount of wear. I also have the two medium WM versions which are not mentioned as an alternative walking out uniform button for the Ayrshire Yeomanry or the inspector of schools. So who else did wear them and are any of mine Ayrshire? Rob |

Ayreshire..... I took these same buttons of my Blues jacket (Ayreshire Yeo) that I used in the LDY.

Thank you for the replies.
I suspect that tying down a definitive answer with these may be a difficult? Rob |

Yesterday I saw similar, white metal buttons on ebay described as a 'generic police pattern'. I have also seen them described as a general government service pattern as well. Conversely someone is selling black plastic buttons of this pattern as 'Ayrshire Yeomanry' but as far as I am aware they never wore black buttons. Roger |
