RAEME with Nuts
Just acquired this. RAEME QC cap badge which is in gilding and white metal, but a two part construction held together by screw posts and nuts. Maker marked 'Luke Melb' it shows signs of regular cleaning, so I'm assuming it's the real deal. I've never seen a badge constructed in this way before. Any enlightenment from down under appreciated.

G'day John
Whilst I have never seen a badge made up this way, I'd suggest that its an officers badge. Hope that this helps. regards Phil. |

hi guys
ive also never seen this construction but doubt its an officers version. ive never heard of an officers version either. thought they were all the same. i would say the pins or rivets have broken off and the engineer has repaired it adding his own touch. bc |

Thanks for the input lads. I think bc has the answer, a standard badge modified by a skilled tradesman (for an unknown reason other than cleaning perhaps?).
