Default What is this RTR badge

Hello!
Can anybody educate me about this badge (e.g. time period, hat/collar, rank)?
It's 24 x 30.5 mm (0.94 x 1.2 inches) and has a nice weight to it (it being a sandwich).
thanks

It appears to be a theatre made, sand cast, (in two pieces), replacement cap badge probably knocked up in a divisional workshop. It was probably worn until a standard issue cap badge could be located.

No way of knowing for sure, but possibly North Africa/Middle Eastearn theatre.

Whilst it is impossible to be sure, I would say this is an Indian made badge; judging from it's construction.
The obverse is properly finished, and while it is not up to a British made standard, it is rather nice nonetheless.
We can never know the circumstances with which these badges were acquired, or even worn, with certainty.

Thank you, all, for your input. I really like this badge but also nice to find something extra to cherish it for.
