Need help to identify this believed to be cap badge but unsure
Hi all, I need help to identify this badge, I have searched the web and image libraries for ages and can find nothing like it. It has one wing under the laurel leaves whereas all the images I can find show both wings over the laurel leaves, it also has the letters SPOR or SPQR at its base. Any help in identifying this badge would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Les.

If indeed the letters are SPQR....
SPQR is an initialism of a Latin phrase Senātus Populus que Rōmānus ("The Roman Senate and People", or more freely as "The Senate and People of Rome"; Classical Latin, referring to the government of the ancient Roman Republic, and used as an official emblem of the modern-day comune (municipality) of Rome..... Have just been to Rome and SPQR can indeed still be seen everywhere - even on the manhole covers - this one made in Salerno (I didn't photograph all of them!). Your eagle is standing on a bundle of sticks, which was the symbol of the fascist party in Italy ww2 - think that's where you should be heading with your search! Best regards, Mike
