Default New member says hello (interested in Norway)

Hello, Oliver from Tamworth (the middle of England).

I usually take an interest in anything linked to Norway in WW2 as my mum is from Bergen and her dad was a courier for the Milorg Resistance.

So: Kompani Linge, No. 5 (Norwegian) Troop 10 (Inter-Allied) Commando, the SOE raids, RAF 331 / 332 / 333 squadrons etc.

I have a small and very modest collection but am always looking to learn and acquire more.

Thanks

Hi Oliver, and welcome to the Forum!
My mum was also from Bergen, and I lived there for 12 years.
I hope we'll get to see some of your collection?

Cheers

Colin

Thanks. Will post some pics, I've got a few badges and patches and things but just about a dozen. Mostly I've got books about Norway in WW2 and about their work with the British through the RAF, Commandos, SOE etc.

Always keen to learn more. Also interested in any Norwegian stuff people may have for sale or to show and share info about

All I know is that the Norwegian Blues were not a cavalry regiment.

They do however, pun easily.

Hi Oliver, welcome to the forum. I collect insignia from the various forces in exile and fortunately that also includes a couple of Norwegian badges.

Default British Commando Unit Badge

Recently bought a surplus commando sweater. Boy, is it warm! On the right lower sleeve is a badge consisting of two crossed flags. One is a wavy blue line on a white field; the other is a solid blue. Wonder if this means something. Thanks.

Hello Oliver
Great to hear of someone with interests in Norway. I am a huge Commando enthusiast so look forward to correspondence on 5 Troop. I have been collecting for over 50 years, the last 30 specialising in Commandos of WW2 - There is always more to learn
All the best and hoping to hear for you
Mike
