Default Royal Marine Badges

Guys,

Just got sent a few pictures from my friend who is a forder DI in the Royal Marines, after the other beret and badge, he said this is how a worn badge will look. Apparently the beret you are awarded, is the beret you keep for best (and in many cases your life!), and it is worn for parades etc., but from what I've read, rarely in combat, as it is too precious.....

The polishing you'll see if very extensive, these badgesare also pukka, 100% look at the voiding on the lion...

Taken this year at Graspan.

Default Royal Marines insignia

I am always looking for the number '48' to go with my Royal Marines, Commandos insignia from WWII. I have yet to see one in Canada. Are they still available in the U.K.? I collect this unit as it landed with the 3rd Canadian Division on D-Day.

Interesting, the first photo shows a KC OR's badge on an officers beret with silk ribbon banding, and although his beret does look old, I therefore doubt either his beret or his badge is as issued.

It is a replacement beret (after 50 years, who can blame it ), but the badge is as issued, I know the guy

Ah, but therein lies the rub, as you posted these in resonse to another thread. I don't know any WWII veteran who still wears his original beret and badge, so they need to be treated with caution as reference to originality. I agree though that his badge does look good.
