Default RFC Wings (Metal)

In one of the stores; here in Calgary, there is a RFC Metal, OSD "WING". It is very solid, has lugs East-West, is hollow in the back (not a flat surface). Very good detail. so my question is (as I know NOTHING about FRC badges) Is this a commonly faked badge, is there anything to watch out for and in general!! what is one of these worth (they are asking 250$ [125 GBP])

Thanks in advance for any answers

Larry

Smile RFC metal wings

These metal wings were mainly used to decorate the top of photo frames, I know of two that were used,100% real. They command a good price in England and are sought after by RFC collectors. A friend of mine bought a frame and removed the badge which he sold/exchanged for a good price and was left with a frame where the outline of the wings could be seen. After he bought one on ebay for how much I do'nt know and as I had never seen the reverse of one it looked OK. Ithink from memory it had blades, but they may exist with loops.

Hi,

I'm a first time poster, but I know a guy who churns these wings out in both sizes by the thousands (NM :-) ). His have prongs on the back and look distinctly 'new' (no patina or ingrained dirt).

ATB,
Tom

Larry, Any chance the vendor would let you take digital images front and back?

Default RFC Wings

I'll take my camera and try!

Did the RFC wear wings (I think so!) and if so what were they/did they look like??
