The pennant is REME colours also, the REME were a massive part of the Sales Team, so both together seems right.
I was part of the sales team in the 90's, and it was RAC and REME wherever we went. I think it's REME. Chris |

I've looked through the book and cant find any notes to the dust cover unfortunately. It's not a new book, from around the time Challenger came into service. I'll have a look later and check the publication date.

I can safely say your RAC ST pennant is quite a rare item, so good find.

Images of said 15th 19th Hussars Challenger tank. The blue with yellow over red is the same as their stable belts. The other antenna has a pennon attached, green horizontal triangle with a white diamond outline on it. Could that be a Squadron indicator ?
Book was published in 1986. |

Sorry, just to clarify, the symbol on the RAC pennant is the ATDU symbol. It would have been the sales team that would have used the pennant.

Agreed, the pennant is the same as the 15th/19th, it's also REME colours, I think though, REME had two lots of red.
Maybe the pennants came from an RAC collector. Chris |

Yep, you're right Mike, I couldn't remember which colour they had two stipes of.
The pennant being REME was just a suggestion, if the two flags were to have come as a set as it were. But I'd defiantly now say 15th/19th. Chris |

Hi, thanks again for all the replies, quite amazing. I'm sure they would have languished in the unknown pile without you all. As the 15/19th Hussars were the RAC training reg. at Bovington 1984/5, I think it is reasonable to assume they were from this period, either sales or ATDU. Personally I prefer the ATDU as it was the training reg. but I'm happy to be proven wrong, best wishes and thank you to you all, Mike

Hi Mike
ATDU wasn't a training Regiment, and the sales team were part of ATDU, so the pennant is Armoured Trials and Development Unit, it's the sales team part of ATDU that would more than likely used the pennant. Does that make sence? Cheers Chris |

Hi Chris, I probably didn't express myself very well. I was implying that as the two pennants came together and the plain pennant was the 15/19th Hussar's who were the RAC training reg. 1984/5, that was probably when they originated , hopefully flown from a tank aerial Thankyou for your input and maybe you could explain the connection between the sales team and ATDU in the 80's and 90's. Their present mission statement piece is all about how much they have expanded in the last 10 years so I can only assume it was different then, best wishes Mike

AHH, sorry for my misunderstanding.
Yes, that makes sense how they came together. I'll PM you soon regarding ATDU and the sales team. Cheers Chris |

Chris,I can see why you thought REME. Very very similar, the difference is theres two stripes of yellow red. So,blue yellow red blue yellow red blue.
Does anybody have any ideas what the green with white diamond pennant signifies on the image I posted ? |

Not sure if this is connected/relevant but green triangular pennant "Defaced with formation number or sign" is listed as :
Area and Sub-District Commander .
