Welsh Horse and Unknown Maker
This came among a large collection I recently obtained!
Not see a strike like this or the Maker? Anyone have anything similarly marked? A quick Google search shows the company were established well after this badge discontinued in wear? "A.J. Allen (Birmingham) Limited was founded on 01 May 1941 and has its registered office in Birmingham. The organisation's status is listed as "Dissolved" and it had 0 directors at the time it closed. A.J. Allen (Birmingham) Limited does not have any subsidiaries". Andy |

I've got one with exactly the same mm to a WH copy badge. Had it for a couple of years. On mine you can clearly see that the shank has been spot welded with an electric welding gun or whatever they're called. I pulled the shank off to take a closer look.

Marked sliders
Andy, a nice piece of detective work, fakes with named sliders have been on the scene for a long time and generally with names of companies that are almost impossible to nail as fakes.
As I have said many times, when I started collecting in the early 1950's named sliders were very rare on badges pre WWII apart from Lambourne. I still am wary of them although many people have them and are happy that they are original. Rob |

1926-34 Inniskilling Fusiliers
Resurrecting this old thread here’s another fake badge with an A.J. ALLEN (B’HAM) LTD makers mark.
Again similar to the Welsh Horse this pattern of Inniskilling Fusiliers badge was defunct long before the company was founded in 1941 so it has no place being on either badge. Searching online it appears A.J.ALLEN LTD was liquidated in October 1982. |
