Yippeee!!!
Just managed to buy loo roll, first I have seen for 2 weeks and I was counting the sheets and the 'sheets' of my present stock. As a 51 year old with a pregnant partner, due in July (I asked her to plan it for 7.30 am on the 1st July-this was not appreciated-I then suggested 7.20am to co-incide with the Hawthron Ridge blast-still no joy) I have wondered how i will buy nappies. As a teacher of humanities I am puzzled as to what will happen to these stockpiles in 6-12 months time... land fill to add to the 15 million tons of food we bin each year... |

They say laughter is the best medicine!
Received the following recently from friends and family. Hope it gives you all a chuckle.

I recently told my wife that if I have to be quarantined I am glad it was with her. When she asked why I told her that I have acquired a high degree of tolerance for her. I am now self-quarantining.

Has anyone noticed how clean the sky has been recently, it's normally crisscrossed with vapour trails so this is probably the only time in our lives it'll be like this.

I'm stuck at home with my wife trying to learn how to juggle 3 balls At least we are well stocked with toilet paper.
Also whats the story with Royal Mail? Are they still operating as normal and are deliveries being made? I'm just hoping any purchases I make from UK dealers will still be promptly posted to me in Australia. Mick

Hey Mick,
I recently received a badge from a Forum member. It took twice the average time from UK to Canada. I can only surmise that the delay is from reduced manning levels at both ends, particular here in Canada (clearing through Customs). I'm sure that efforts are being made to minimise worker's exposure to potential threats. So, I would say that your goods will get there. It just might take a little longer. Ian

The streams are running clearer and animals, like foxes, are playing out in the middle of the day in town.

I've been reliably informed that since Venice has been closed, fish can be seen swimming in the canals and the water clarity is almost goldfish bowl quality.

So well over six months and nothing, including the "hysteria" has subsided, countless lives ruined, business's destroyed, the economy seriously damaged and the future mortgaged.

I have 6 pairs of these (it just seems apt to say 6 pairs rather than 12 bottles, given the name) produce of a local brewery (to which I have no connection other than as a customer buying a few packs of their beers, postage free to a 25 mile radius).
A serious subject but a fitting message. Gave a couple of bottles to a mate down the road who'd survived Covid. Cheers to those who've had it and seen it off. |
