White triangle on maroon formation badge
Good evening, I wonder if anyone can identify this formation badge for me please. The white triangle appears to be flexible paint applied to a cloth backing. It has been removed from a uniform.
Many thanks, Dave |

Worn with the pointed end facing down this is the sign worn in WW2 by the staff of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps Depot at Doncaster racecourse.
The background is normally a bright red, yours looking a bit faded. The sign was based on the flag flown over WWI veterinary hospitals. Jon |

The 1st Infantry Division wore a small white triangle over a red one (giving a red border). I think the Royal Army Medical Corps units attached to the division woe the white triangle on maroon, giving a maroon border. This looks like that, uncut, although clearly worn as a rectangle.

Thank you both, I think that Postwarden has it as also in this lot was a RAVC slip on.
Many thanks, Dave |

I was probably incorrect on the maroon colour, it is slightly brighter on the reverse but quite a few of the badges in this old collection are a little grubby

My first thought was RAMC too, but knew it was usually a red triangle edging a white one in leather or felt. Gald to see what it is really is and figure it's probably a pretty good one to have!

As they came as a pair, and I only need one, I have put one on a well known internet site
