Are those SAS wings original?
Here is a pair of SAS wings I do not remember I got them from.
Would it be possible to get info about them? IMG_2653b.jpg IMG_2654b.jpg Thank you Frederic Last edited by PLN; 03-01-19 at 10:46 AM. Reason: corrections |

Hi and thank you.
What is SOF? It may not be obvious on the picture but the backing is lacking some light brown paper as remain is still at the bottom. Also, the middle rope on the front is present although it do not seems to be there as the blue string tend to hide it. Are those details significant? |

Thank you,
So I went and checked what they've got: theirs do not look like mines (but maybe they had different). http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/ww2-sas...g-product,1513 |

Looks wrong to be real, backing is too fluffy. I have this type in my archive as Epic militaria

I went and check the web site of the company you mentioned (https://www.epicmilitaria.com/ww2-sa...ute-wings.html) I compare both badges and as far as I can tell they are not the same. See as I took a screen shot of the one on the site: IMG_2653b.jpg Screenshot_2019-01-04 WW2 SAS Parachute Wings - Epic Militaria (2).jpg Main differences are: - Tip of the wings which drop slightly on mine and straight in line with the blue part on the epic. - the (very) light blue thread which make the bottom of the wings are differently orientated according to the section they form (ie the weave tend to follow the curvature of the wing) on mine. they have the same orientation (basically vertical) on the epic. -the thread used to hold the ropes of the parachute are black on mine when blue on the epic. I do not say those details make mine more genuine but I tend to think that shows it is not the same provenance. |

As much as I could keep telling you what you don't want to hear, but I won't.

hi Frederic,
No doubt a fake wing, artificially aged. Does not conform to WW2 patterns I know. Cheers, Johan |
