Question Auckland Navals

A thread is running in the "It's a Mystery -Unknown Insignia for Identification" section about a A N white metal shoulder title , which seemed to be for an Assistant Nurse .

Quote:
the grade of V.A.D. assistant nurse will wear the letters A.N. in metal on the right strap of their aprons in indoor uniform, and on the shoulder straps of their outdoor uniform coats.
The badge in question was made by JR GAUNT LONDON and has a pinback/brooch fitting but there is also a version with two copper lugs.

But now it appears that the title may have been worn by the Auckland Navals ?

It is apparently in Dave Corbett's book and is also shown in "Badges and Insignia of the New Zealand Army" by Geoffrey P Oldham .

Thought I'd post here to see if anyone has an opinion ?
