Default my father's war history.

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this so sorry if you've heard it all before.
I'm looking to find my dad's full movements during ww2 by identifying his regiment and his photo which has his eppilette insignia. He was in the royal mechanical & electrical engineers.
My avitar is the only picture i've got of him in uniform i'll try to attach it to this message but if im unable then thats a start. Thanks in advance for any light shead on the subject.
Jim's lad.

Hello JL,

Welcome to the forum.

You may have set yourself quite a task here as the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) were found with every formation at all levels in one way or another due to the nature of their business.

There may indeed be a clue in the image you have so if you are able to upload a larger example it might indeed help.

To upload an image: first click post reply to your thread.

You may need to add some text for the post to work, once you have done this click on the paper clip icon shown in arrow 1 in the image I have attached below.

This will open a new window, click 'browse' arrow 2 and navigate to where you image is held on your computer (best held on Desktop for ease of use).

Once you have found your image click on it to highlight it and then select 'open'.

Once you have done this click 'upload' arrow 3, wait for it to upload and close the browse window.

Preview your post to see if the image has loaded and if it has submit reply.

Good luck.

Ry

Hi,

have you his service records from the MOD, they should list all the units he served with and the dates for them, which should make it easier to see where, when and with whom he served.

Jim's lad.
The formation sign on his epaulette should identify the Division or Brigade that he served in (in Italy at that time I would suspect) - which narrows the field of search a bit.
