Default highland light infantry

Hi to all
here is a recent purchase 9th vol btn
HLI any thoughts on this?
as ever any comment or debate welcome

I would say based on the clarity of the rear definition and the lugs, a good one for me.

The badge is in fact the 9th Territorial Battalion, HLI, other wise known as the Glasgow Highlanders. It's not a Volunteer Battalion badge. Your badge was introduced circa 1908. This battalion of the HLI was dress in the same style as the Black Watch.
It's a nice badge.

Although not the best pictures in the world, I thought the attached might be of interest.

One shows the cap badge being worn together with the T 9 epaulette badges (and bugle) and the other is of the sporran badge.

Both scans have been taken from a postcard of the Band of the 9th Bn HLI (Glasgow Highlanders) in my collection.

Just spent a bit of time on e-bay this evening.. A lot of badges from the HLI on offer there.. Looks like someones old collection going on sale...
