Default help please ?

Hello gentlemen,

The first of two posts asking for help ?

I have tried to find photographs of the plate I am interested in, couldn't find one ! if it is in K.& K., I must have missed it ?

Basically, the owner wants me to re-loop it, neither of us know how many loops and where they would be positioned, also, I will be attempting to reproduce the orb and cross which is missing.

If I cannot manage it then the owner will not lose any sleep over it but it would be nice to complete the repair or in this case, refurbishment, so I also need to know what sort of cross would have been above the orb ??

Can anyone help please ??

Dave.

Thanks Griff,

At least I now know why it isn't in K.& K. but I still have no answer to my questions

Cheers Griff,

It would certainly be easier to make, or try to make, a square crown in comparison the other shape ( three little appendages, N/E/W on the cross ) ???

Thanks for your time though, appreciated.

Dave.

Hello Peter,

The owner described it as a Shako plate to me but when I looked in K.& K., the early 9th has a figure of Britannia with a scroll above her and the figures IX below.

The second lot of Regency Shako's did not show a 9th ?? perhaps it's time I contacted " confused.com " lol ???

It's a standard centre company Albert shako plate (although introduced onto the late pattern bell-top shako's earlier)

Lugs are usually E/W as they interfere with the plume socket, but do find the occasional N/S

Dave,
Try KK page 61 (describes O/R ones) and 63 for some pics - but as you said the 9th version isn't there. Email on its way about silver gilt stuff once I sort out the boiler.....!!!

Keith Phillips http://www.historicaltextiles.com/Other_Products.html
does a brass reproduction of a 19th foot plate for the re-enactment group.

You should be able to buy one and attach the orb and crown to your sample

Smart thinking. I was looking around for something that might do but no chance. Well done.
