Default Inniskilling Fusiliers EI

This seems a bit steep, with replacement lugs?
Or do they really fetch these sorts of prices?

There should be a slider and there is no evidence of it. Don't buy it.

Interestingly he also has this one, at a lower price

As Alan says it should be slidered! Only ONE c.1916/WW1 Economy badge EVER came with lugs which was the Royal Scots. The badge looks better than most repros and could "possibly" be a repaired OSD collar bereft of the bronzed finish?

Why paint the back black? Not a good sign.

Alan,
I cannot see any black paint on the first badge, but know where AM gets his badges repaired and it's where many of us do, and it is all part of the excellent service that very honest Forum member does as part of his artisan skills!

It's not the repairers fault that the seller does not completely know his onions! The slidered one is completely fake!

Both are Forum members, so possibly for one, i.e. AM, if this is a repair more time reading posts is required!

"WTF" are member dealers flogging fake badges, do they ever bother to read what is being regularly posted?

Come on Mike screw the loaf!!

The slidered one shown in the second link is blacked to the reverse. The other does appear to be a lugged collar.

Alan,
I see what you mean on the slidered badge and I'm pretty sure it's an artificial darkening effect common on many repros to give them the appearance of age, rather than paint!

Regardless of what it is the badge is Fake and should not it a million years be offered as "Original"!

I'm starting to get hot under the collar (fakes being touted as original wind me up very quickly) so time I logged off!

Members, please, if you see such rubbish being offered for sale as genuine, then point the sellers/dealers in the direction of this Forum!

Andy

I agree, I believe they are both fake.

The officers OSD badge was a different design from the other ranks pattern 4684 and is shown below. I do not think that the lugged example is of OSD origin.

As Andy points out there is plenty of material on this site with regard to the EI version pattern 4684 A and how to distinguish it from fakes.
