"V" in wreath
Any ideas on this one? A "V" in a wreath with QC above embroidered in black on a circular sand/desert background 75mm in diameter.

I saw this while browsing a well known auction house, and wondered why it was so familiar to me?

Hmmmm....not quite as simple as that, is it?
It most certainly has its genus in the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers - but what's the connection to a modern cloth badge with a EIIR crown? I'm not that au fait with my cloth badges, but is that pattern/colour currently in use? I have no idea why, but it looks more Canadian to me. cheers, Andy C

Patch looks to modern to be 5th Northumberland Fusiliers and not of a typical British Design? Perhaps Canadian??

I disagree. I'd say the patch has a WW2 look about it. Maybe even desert uniform.

She did come to the throne in the early 50's when the uniforms being worn in middle east postings were a similar pattern to WW2 ones - but you're right, I didn't take the QC into account.

This may be a stupid question but are we sure it is a letter V
The shape of the 'V' is not symmetrical, the left hand side of it is vertical whilst the right comes off at an angle like something hinged at the bottom. Does it represent a military instrument of some type? regards
