Default Black Watch Badge Backing

a couple quick questions, that will help me display my badges appropriately -

Is the Black Watch badge worn on the glengarry with or without out a black rosette backing? Is there a period/rank where this changed? For example a KC badge without the rosette, or a QC badge with? Or is it OR ranks without and NCO with? or what?

Is the red hackle always worn?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris,
I have a recent picture of a subaltern wearing a glengarry (he is in Undress blue patrols with trews) and it does not have a black backing. The bottom tip of the badge is level with the bottom of the glengarry.
The red hackle, usually worn on the khaki balmoral bonnet or the black TOS.
Sorry, can't help you with dates.
Cheers, Tinto
