2 Canadian Infantry Division formation patches
A selection of officers patches to 2 Canadian Infantry Division. In WW2, the Canadian army intended to use the same colours as the WW1 Canadian Corps divisions. The WW1, 2nd Division used a dark, dark blue formation patch which proved to be very difficult to match in WW2. Several attempts were made to find appropriate tone of blue, but eventually the division settled on a medium blue tone. The officer's used the CII device on their patches. The CII was embroidered in bullion wire and in yellow thread. Examples exist in size back and with backing materials.
Two bullion wire examples attached as thumbnails. Note these were mostly hand embroidered, and thus there are differences to almost all the bullion wire patches. Last edited by Bill A; 05-04-08 at 01:32 PM. |

2 CID embroidered patches
A couple of examples of embroidered thread (as opposed to bullion wire) 2 CID patches. The first example is heavy embroidery while the second example is much finer.

Hello Bill, No official 2 CID patch in canvas with a CII exists. They were never made. I have an odd one, appears to be "theatre made" with the CII stencilled on a canvas like material. However, I am not confident that it is a good one.

Ciao Bill, I also have one that appears to be neatly done,on a piece of blue canvas. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker, early in my collecting career, Oh well, live and learn.
