Possibly 1st Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers, they did have a very similar metal badge.

Indeed it is. I photographed it when it was bought as the owner did not and still does not know which regiment wore it. I checked with my copy of K&K hoping to find the answer, couldn't, so asked if any one one the forum knew. They didn't and neither I nor the owner are any the wiser.

If you plan on using the Forum membership to identify, date, or collect information to enhance the desirability of an item that you intend to sell, then please say so in your first post on the subject.

It is not my cap, I have never owned it and I am not the seller. You may have noticed from my many years of posting on this forum, that I tend to help people with their research if I can.
