A very Happy Christmas to you, All.

Well, 2018, proved to be a fruitful year, as I managed to acquire an Italian theatre made 27th Lancers arm badge and a lovely 26th Hussars white-metal arm badge adorning a bespoke first pattern badge centre, too.

In addition, I was very fortunate to reunite two pairs of separated 25th Dragoons slip-on shoulder titles; they were divided and sold as singles several years ago.

There are some WRC badges, insignia and accessories I will never likely hold in my hand, let alone own for love nor money.

So, the pinnacle for this year would be purchasing a 26th Hussars officers bullion beret badge.

Best,

Marcus

Default Never thought I would ever acquire these

Not just the original 1885 NSW Scottish plaid brooch but another, the design copied by a modern Cadet Corps.

It’s been a slow year for me, I’ve cut down in all areas collecting, posting and socially. Best find for me happened a week or so ago after a visit to an antiques village I occasionally visit in Essex. The shop there isn’t great on badges but I always walk out with something.

This time nothing more exciting than a 17th London cap badge. BB, mint and a beautiful example. Something like this gives me as much pleasure as a new badge, a proper upgrade. It’s also nice features to buy something in a real old military’s shop.

Photo to follow one day.

Hi All
Two of my best finds of the year: The South African Air Force pre-1961 bullion pilots wings and bullion pilots mess dress wings. Been after them for many years.
Cheers,
Alex

Here's a couple of my favourite finds for 2018.

A couple of cavalry field service caps.

Was well chuffed to find these! the Inniskillings Arm Badge I wasn't looking for as yo do so was fortunate to come across it so holds a special memory, the "Jewish Lads Brigade" and the "Vee Force" I have always wanted and as restrikes/copies abound never thought real ones would come my way! Must thank Ian Forster Militaria for all of these! Have a Good New Year All!! Billy

Merry Christmas everyone.

I've had a pretty good year with new additions to my collection.

My favourite badge is probably the RAF DR badge I bought at Malvern, I also found two Officers Metal buttons to the Royal Ulster Rifles which has filled a long term space in my button collection. Another button I literally picked up was the front of a GS button when I went for a walk on the old tank range at North hill near Minehead in Somerset, there had been a gorse fire and it was just laying in the ash's.

But I think my favourite new addition to the household of the year is my fathers new mobility scooter, a gift from that marvellous organisation The Royal British Legion.

Hi Rob,

Well done! I recall the RAF DR and am quite envious but must admit your Dad's new ride is splendid and what a wonderful gift too.

Some amazing finds chaps, lovely to see them shared in a round up each year like this. Keep them coming.

All the best,

Roy

A few nice finds this year, the stand outs probably:

1. An Officer's torin cap badge for the 1st Bn Essex Regiment as the successors to the 44th Foot. Only worn c. 1890 - 1896.

2. An early RWF silver and gilt grenade. What it exactly is was the subject of a forum thread, believed to be SNCO FSC but still unresolved - I live in hope!

Compliments of the season to all.

Michael

It was a good year for buttons and button identification. Not all new additions have been indentified. Here is one of my 'best unidentified' finds.
Its backmark is Boggett & Reynolds, St. Martins Lane, London.

Another find from early this year, a rare early pattern 12th Lancers officer's silver / gilt cap badge.
Cheers,
Alex
