Default Thoughts?

Taken, allegedly, not by me, from a "very old moth eaten jacket" along with a couple of other similar badges.

Frank, to my amateur eye it looks legit. However it is in poor condition unless it's really cheap, I'd leave it.

To me the quality looks good. If that has been faked, they've done an outstanding job.

Frank,

I collect these.
Its original and its pre WW1 in all probability

BUT

The condition makes it of little value (to me) at least.

regards

Too late, bought it, although far from expensive, the man selling it, seemed surprised by my interest.

Hi Frank

I have had that on a couple potential purchases..... I have since learnt not to say a thing and just buy it. I lost a really rare motto by asking one question and it was withdrawn from sale. That one question confirmed the £s to the seller... it was as if he put it up on the peoples auction site to confirm its validity by the interest it achieved.

Hello Andy,
No, I did not think it was spurious, in any way, it certainly shows it's age.
Regards Frank

Hello Simon,
Many thanks indeed for clarification, I like this sort of thing very much, but, seldom ever bother to look at it, except when actually on a uniform, I particularly like it as "Best Swordsman" in Troop, I assume also worn by the Yeomanry?

I also bought the attached too, a little better, I suppose, but, noticeably missing a sequin to the star.
Regards Frank

The Crossed rifles and star badge is for the Best Shot in the Company, Squadron or Band.
