Default Grenadier Guards Khaki Beret with Brass Badge and No Badge Backing.

I've not got my notes re. the (probable) dates of wear of the Grenadier Guard's brass, anodised aluminium, blackened brass and embroidered grenades, and introduction of the Guard's dark blue and maroon badge backing on the beret, but I date this beret to the early 1970's as it has a plastic rather than leather band and no badge backing.
Does any one know the dates of usage of the khaki beret with brass badge and no badge backing combination please?

Ta, is that when the badge backings came in?
I remember the plastic bands replacing leather (on the dark blue berets worn by my unit) during the early 70's and the fabric bands replacing the plastic a few years later.
1GG were wearing cloth beret badges in about 1974, when they were in Creggan.
An ex- Queens Coy man who was on that tour claimed that he had never seen the anodised aluminium or blackened brass badges at all during his service in the 70's, didn't know they existed having only possessed the brass and the cloth versions.

The badge backing was approved in 1989.

That's what it was all about - "if you can remember it, you weren't there"

'woman' Andy? That's what I like about you Guards chaps, so disciplined. The Fusileers of course wouldn't have restricted themselves to one, they would have run riot

My new year's resolution was to leave all that to younger, fitter men, I couldn't face another night in the cells.
(I was bluffing anyway, I was never stationed Germany).
