Default Wing mystery

Hi Guys

A mate of mine sent me this picture for identification thinking it might be artillery since it has 7 flames?

Anyone seen this version before?

Regards
Brian

Thanks Frank,

Sorry to sound like an idiot but what do you mean by "post" and would this be a artillery related brevet?

Regards
Brian

Default Wing

The Air Observation Post pilots were army pilots drawn from Royal Artillery to control and spot for artillery fire during WWII. As they were drawn from the RA their pilots wings incorporated the RA design. They co-existed with the Army Air Corps during WWII, flying light aircraft such as the Auster. After WWI the pilots were absorbed into the mainstream AAC when it took over responsibility for spotting for the guns.
