Australian Light Horse - Research question
Gents
Can somebody point me in the right direction to help me find som information about a friends grandfather? I simply have no idea where to start with Australian regiments. All I know is that he served in the Australian Light Horse in the First World War, and his name was Reginald Grose. I know he survived, so won't be on the WGC website. Not much I'm afraid, but it's a start I guess....! Cheers, Neil |

Neil,
Could he be one of these people? These are their service records at the National Archives. http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/Items_listing.asp?S=1&F=1&O=0&T=I&C=2 Drop me a PM if you need more help. Mick ps Looks like neither of these are your man. Could he have joined under an alias? |

Was it common to join under an alias? Cheers, Neil |

Try doing a search from here if the link doesn't work.
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/rec...rch/index.aspx Use "Search Now as a guest" And joining under an alias wasn't that uncommon during WW1. Mick |

Thanks again Mick - I'm in. Wish we could do this for the Brits, it's such an efficient search facility.
Have found one that might be him. Have sent the record to my pal for checking. Certainly he is from the right town etc, but not in the Light Horse?? We'll see. Much appreciate the guidance Regards Neil |
