Smile Gurkha Brownies !

I came across this photo in a Regimental history of the 7th Gurkha Rifles - apparently both battalions formed packs of Brownies and Wolf Cubs from amongst their children shortly after the Regiment was posted to Maylaya in 1948. Check out the badges they are wearing - best Brownie badge ever!

Love it! My wife has been a Guide leader for almost 40 years now and currently runs a Brownie troop. AND, decades ago we once had dinner with a South African girl who insisted vehemently and to my wife's disgust that Scouts and Guides were 'paramilitary organizations.'

I love the fact that the Brownies were given proper cap badges of the period - I may even have some unwittingly in my collection!
