Default Identification of this Field Service Cap?

This cap came along yesterday. I am not sure which regiment or corps. Initially I had thought RAMC, but some checking suggests they wore a dark blue one? There is a strong possibility this cap was worn by the Canadian militia too.

I was going to type out a list of possible Hussar regiments but Manchester's already put them on this thread:

https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...d+service+caps

I'm often not sure exactly what some of the references are actually showing, some show these Hussar regiments (and other) caps with yellow piping, but I don't know whether the caps did have yellow piping or if the illustrations are based on officer's caps with gold piping and the ORs caps should be unpiped.

That list is for the Second WW; would it be the same for this 1900 dated cap?

I don't know, but here's a hand tinted image of the 14th Hussars, postmarked 1906.

1901 Dress Regulations states the field cap is crimson for 11th, scarlet for the other regiments (13th white and blue), gold French braid welts on caps and flaps, front and back seams.

Thanks Leigh. There is no braid or piping on this one. I wonder what the difference between crimson and scarlet translates to? This cap leans more to a maroon colour.

Here is a Lt Col or Col (can't remember when he was promoted) of RAMC c. 1941 wearing a side cap. It looks like a dark blue colour - or might the upper bit be RAMC maroon ???

At that time it would be cherry / maroon with dark blue side curtains, similar to this more modern Other Ranks version but with gold braid trim and officer quality Kings Crown insignia although the officer in the photo appears to wearing a colonel's insignia including the royal crest cap badge.

Have you looked at this website http://www.uniformology.com/HUSSARS-05.html ? I believe there is a Yeomanry section too.

Thanks Luke. There is similarity to the 11th Hussars, except for the piping.

Are the cap and it's buttons of officer quality? With no gold piping it may be an ORs cap.
These are all post 1950 caps but showing left to right the forage cap of the 14th/20th Hussars, 11th Hussars and Royal Army Medical Corps colours.

I believe the CFEC with yellow piping to the curtains is 11th Hussars, the one with the yellow top is Lancashire Fusiliers.
