Many thanks

Default AMW Title

Been on the forum a few months now but "reading in". May I make a contribution. An old thread, but I wonder if this AMW title could be Air Ministry Warder - the force which was replaced by the Air Ministry Constabulary whose shoulder title was AMC. I have seen/heard the Warder title recorded but never an illustration.

They were entitled "Air Ministry Wardens" not "Warders".

The AMW title appeared in a C&T auction (I don't know when) described as an Indian Army title but otherwise unidentified.

Default AMW Air Ministry Warder

Having just picked up a pair of AMW shoulder titles myself, came across this from British Police History and after checking the late David Parsons 'BADGES & EMBLEMS of the Royal Air Force' seems to confirm the ID. It also may clear up the confusion between Warden and Warder. The titles shown by David Parsons appear the same as the Indian made titles in the 'Indian Army' lot in the C&T auction which may also explain the confusion there. The pair I have picked up appear to be British made. Mike
