I agree. I think editing rights to members only who have made a certain number of forum posts. Viewing rights to members.
Public comments on images - no. I could imagine that getting messy like YouTube comments. Perhaps a ‘peoples vote’ could be done via a poll on some of these questions/points to reach a consensus? Another point arises when it comes to differences of opinion. There are multiple topics and badges where the views amongst the experts and respected members are polar opposites and people have agreed to disagree. How would this be represented? I guess one could write out each side of the debate but this would look messy and there’d be no conclusion. It’s a nice idea but a mamouth task and I feel a nightmare for the mods to monitor. |

It could be a marvelous thing. Remark the "could". I will play the devil's advocate a bit more.
Apart from the technical skills to edit Wiki pages, there must also be some template for pages about badges. Else on one page you will find the makers mark at the very top, and for another badge you will find it at somewhere hidden at the end (when at all), etc. Some will be very liberate with bold and underlined and italic, other will not. Etc. It will take a good deal of preparation, creation of rules on how to do it and checking of pages created for deviations (and spammers/trolls), etc. Again, it would be a wonderful project, but mind the pitfalls. It will only succeed with a fair amount of time spend by a few people.
