"Footed" lugs on AAC collar badge?
Good evening gents,
Any thoughts on the lugs on this AAC WM collar badge please? I believe these are the infamous "footed" ones and would like to know if they belong to the badge. Hope the lowres pictures help. Marinus, I share your suspicions about these "dustbin lidded lugs"
https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...9&postcount=30 They look a bit too fresh. I see D loops on the collar badges that I have, for what it's worth. |

"Footed" lugs on AAC collar badge?
Thank you for your reply, tcrown.
I've added an image of my 1942 hm AAC collar to the attachments in post #1. The lugs look pretty similar to the ones on the wm badge I think. I might be wrong of course. Marinus |

It's a cast fake.

Just seen this. I agree a lost wax copy, evident from the cast flaws and finish.

fake AAC collars badge
Oh dear.
Another addition to my box of shame, then. Thank you very much, tcrown, arrestingu and Luke. I'm learning a lot on this forum. Marinus Last edited by marinus; 21-11-20 at 04:39 PM. Reason: a grammatical adjustment |

While reading this thread I remembered I have an AAC badge. It came on a tray with buttons (and I wanted the buttons)
May I ask if it is genuine? Die struck, with slider. I am really looking forward to the replies. Did I get another dud? (The buttons were fine) |

sadly as Luke already posted, yes it is a duffer, the most obvious sign is where the laurel leaf overlies the wing feather as highlighted

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that WM collar badge at all!. Remember, there are footed lugs, and there are size 10 footed lugs, i.e. those you refer to as "infamous"

I think you'll find the lugs are replacements, the originals would have been cast in with the badge as one piece, look at the two lines the go down through where the lugs would have been where the mould would have seperated to release them, you'll also find them on things like the motor volunteers bladed badge fakes among others to to make one piece OSD's.
