RSM rank insignia
Greetings.
I should know the answer, but please can it be confirmed that the arms in the middle belong to an RSM. RSM with OSD - Copy.jpg Many thanks in advance. Regards. Brian |

Brian, I would say yes as he is wearing a Sam Browne belt and I would think that a WO1 would not be on the side but right in the middle.
Stay safe. Jerry

Many thanks to you both.
That is what I thought and thanks for the clarification. Reason for asking is it confirms something I had suspected, but not actually seen evidence of: RSMs wore Officer quality cap badges. RSM with OSD - Copy (2).jpg Hopefully I won't upset anybody, but I cropped this from one of the pictures contained in The Lost Tommies series of photographs, (mentioned in this thread, and this) which I spent a a good 2 hours last night looking at. If anybody hasn't yet looked, I thoroughly recommend the time spent doing so. Regards Brian |

That’s quite irrefutable, isn’t it. A practice that still endures today.
Thanks for sharing it.

Certainly the RSM and a tough looking guy. An interesting trio of medals, which I presume are pre war? It is difficult to tell without colour.
Thanks for posting Nick |
